The Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences invites applicants for a full-time position as teaching associate professor in bovine medicine from August 1st 2024 or as soon as possible after that. The position is limited to two years.
You will be part of the bovine group, Section for Medicine and Surgery located in Taastrup.
The position focuses on planning, coordinating, and executing teaching and clinical services within bovine medicine. Teaching includes clinical teaching, lectures, and workshops for veterinary students as a part of both bachelor and Master of Veterinary Medicine. Supervision of bachelor and master theses are part of the teaching as well as postgraduate education. In addition, the applicant is expected to participate in the course development and examination within the veterinary curriculum. The teaching does not require new research, but the applicant is encouraged to engage in and assist in relevant research projects.

Job description
The teaching associate professor will be mainly responsible for clinical and theoretical teaching of veterinary students, post-graduate students and veterinary technicians in bovine medicine as well as interact with and assist the faculty in the development of further teaching strategies and implement technology-driven teaching solutions. In addition, the teaching associate professor can be responsible for relevant pre- and postgraduate courses in large animal medicine including examinations.
In considering applications for the position, the main emphasis will be on the applicant´s ability to document a high level of teaching experience in bovine medicine. The teaching associate professor must have completed the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen assistant professor pedagogical degree (“universitetspædagogikum”).
Required qualifications
- The applicant must hold a DVM with the license to practice in Denmark or be willing to apply for such within 6 months.
- The applicant must speak and write a Scandinavian language (Danish, Norwegian or Swedish).
- Documented clinical teaching qualifications of veterinary students within bovine medicine.
- Experience and skills in course planning and course execution.
- Completion of the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen assistant professor pedagogical degree (“universitetspædagogikum”) or similar is required.
Place of employment
The place of employment is at the Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences, Taastrup Campus, University of Copenhagen.
Terms of employment
Salary and other terms and conditions of appointment are set in accordance with the Agreement between the Ministry of Finance and AC (Danish Confederation of Professional Associations) or other relevant professional organizations. The position is covered by the Job Structure for Academic Staff at Universities 2020.
