How would you like to

  • work with infrastructure and cloud that directly impact train operations?
  • observe and monitor DSB’s software reliability?
  • contribute to root cause analysis to permanently fix problems?
We are looking for a software engineer who is interested in working with 3rd-level IT support across our entire IT landscape with a focus on cloud solutions.

“The purpose of my work - ensuring the smooth transportation of many people every day - means more to me than I initially thought” says Thomas, Site Reliability Manager in the Response Team.

Join the Application & Infrastructure Response Team! You will enter a team that serves as a bridge between our IT infrastructure, applications, colleagues, departments, and suppliers, facilitating the exchange of knowledge.

Together with Allan, Thomas and a new colleague, you will be part of an on-call schedule, being on duty every 4th week.

We are responsible for ensuring the stable and efficient operation of our applications and systems, with a primary focus on applications deployed on cloud infrastructure.

In case of any technical problems, our team takes responsibility for solving them in close cooperation with the Situation Management team, as well as experts and system managers related to the incident at hand. Luckily, we do not experience frequent breakdowns.

“The best thing about the team is our straightforwardness. We cover for each other, and our diverse skills complement each other. Allan has 20 years of experience as a database administrator – I came to DSB with Azure experience – together it creates a strong combination when working with the suppliers,” as Thomas puts it.

IT Data Center & Cloud Services IT operations @ DSB consist of around 100 specialists and generalists. The Response Team is a part of Data Center and Cloud Services with 12 colleagues.

You will collaborate closely with the infrastructure experts, cloud architects and specialists of our data centre and Cloud Center of Excellence.

Your main stakeholders and internal customers are those in charge of IT applications on equipment.

A varied field of work You will develop a comprehensive understanding of our business-critical applications, systems, and IT infrastructure, including the relationships between them.

This will ease your access to technical troubleshooting across the entire IT landscape.

During critical breakdowns: you will contribute to extinguishing fires and assist the Situation Management team with technical expertise in a specific area, perhaps translating the technology or providing troubleshooting guidance.

After breakdowns: you will follow up on the challenges or incidents experienced during the shift. How do we prevent it from happening again, so we are proactive in achieving safe and stable operations?

When systems are running, you and other experts will enhance, monitor, and automate operational activities to improve the reliability of cloud applications and the platform.

Technologies You will get access to a wide range of technologies in our IT infrastructure, and a mix between private and public cloud.

Our goal is to construct all projects utilizing code and automation, in alignment with best practices.

We are working with the following technologies, tools, and scripting languages

  • Server Operating systems such as Windows and Linux, AD, databases, and middleware applications
  • All infrastructure components
  • Cloud installations – both Private and Public
  • Azure & Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS)
  • Platform / Infrastructure as a Service (PaaS & IaaS)
  • PowerShell
  • Bicep / Terraform
Working Conditions & Duty Roster Your physical workplace is in Høje Taastrup, Denmark.

You will be part of an on-call agreement to troubleshoot critical incidents or breakdowns that cannot wait until the next working day.

You will be on call for one full week 24/7 every 4 weeks and compensated in salary accordingly.

The frequency of requests outside working hours varies. On an average week, you will experience 2-3 calls. When frequency is more intense you will have colleagues to lean on and seek assistance from.

You have the option to work remotely for up to two days and during on-call outside of office hours.

Who Are You? You are motivated by working with the cloud, and you enjoy troubleshooting technical issues across infrastructure, applications, and systems.

Furthermore, you can recognize yourself in the following statements

  • A solid technical background in IT infrastructure, or equivalent theoretical knowledge.
  • Able to explain technically complex issues to a non-technical target group
  • Familiar with some of the tech stack mentioned above (what you do not know you will learn here)
  • Work and residence permit in Denmark
We welcome both experienced professionals and new graduates and will remunerate accordingly.
