I’m looking for a handicap helper for my team of 5 helpers. The position is a full-time job of 24 hours shifts, of which nights will be sleeping shifts.
I live in Christianshavn, have muscular dystrophy, which is a disease affecting all the muscles of the bodies and in my case primarily muscles in the hips and shoulders. Therefore, I need help with most practical tasks, which includes cooking, cleaning, (generally maintenance of the household), manual transfers, hygiene (showers, etc.), and whatever task there might be. Likewise, I will need help outside of the home both in professional as well as social settings.
I’m a very active guy and tend to have many projects on hand at a time. At the same time, I appreciate easy and calm days. I finished my masters of Urban Planning, a degree within social sciences, at RUC this summer, which also goes to say that I’m very politically interested. I play the guitar and try to learn singing. I’ve been very interested in construciton (done some 3-D modelling) and currently working on sewing a winter outfit – fitted with electric heating elements. As well as started to learn and making programs. I love these kind of projects and therefore appreciate a helper who shares these kind of interest – especially as we will be working on things together.
The work is in its primary function a physical job – why you should be physically capable to make transfers, be okay helping me cross stairs with help from others (as Copenhagen isn’t stair-free this is a must), etc. You should know how to cook, clean, and be ready for the intense character of the 24 hours shifts. The job in its indirect function is that we should clique well together. Since we will be spending an immense amount of time together and share many moments it is detrimental that we get along and have a good social dynamic.
Likewise, since we share so many hours together, it’s important that we can develop and openly communicate when privacy is needed. This goes for both being at home, that I can ask you to leave me the room alone, and outside of the home that I can ask you to leave me alone with e.g., friends. At the same time that we also can share many moments together.
