Do you want to help ensure that the next generation of driverless S-trains meets the highest standards?

Do you thrive on solving complex technical challenges and collaborating across disciplines to create innovative solutions?

Join us in designing and delivering the S-network of the future, where your role will play a central part in developing sustainable transport solutions!

We are looking for a Senior Engineer to play a key role in developing the driverless S-trains of the future. You will work on complex technical solutions in an international environment, ensuring the trains meet high standards and requirements.

Welcome to the S-network program of the future The S-network programme of the future is central to the implementation of driverless S-trains and the many technologies that support this. Our work includes contracts with suppliers who supply rolling stock, infrastructure optimizations such as the traction power system, CBTC signaling and support systems.

In addition, we work with the development and implementation of monitoring and control tools, all of which are essential components of a fully automated automated transport system. The programme is multidisciplinary and technically complex, which creates an exciting environment for collaboration across disciplines.

Johnny Tvede Nielsen, your future technical Project manager says

“You’ll be part of an ambitious public transport transformation; this is a great opportunity to work on cutting-edge technology in a high-impact project that will shape mobility for many travelers.

The best part is the collaboration. You’ll work with passionate experts across disciplines, from engineers to IT specialists, in an open and supportive environment. At DSB, we value innovation, teamwork, and purpose.”

You will have a challenging and varied job As a Senior Engineer within rolling stock, you will ensure that the design and delivery of the trains meet agreed engineering principles, best practices, and relevant standards. You will collaborate closely with colleagues across the organization and suppliers to ensure a smooth design, production, and commissioning process.

A typical day might include reviewing supplier documentation to ensure compliance with mechanical requirements, analyzing and solving technical challenges, and advising suppliers on standards and norms. You’ll also participate in test reviews and contribute to workshops to optimize design, operation, and maintenance.

Your primary tasks will include

  • Ensuring that mechanical requirements are met across rolling stock, from the design phase to testing and commissioning.
  • Reviewing test procedures and reports during the T&C phase.
  • Analyzing and solving mechanical challenges in close collaboration with suppliers.
  • Advising on requirements, standards, and norms to ensure compliance and functionality.
  • Navigating between design, operation, and maintenance considerations for railway solutions.
What do we expect from you? We are looking for someone who thrives on solving complex tasks in close collaboration with other professional groups. You have a solid technical background and a methodical approach to your work, which enables you to keep an overview even when several tasks require your attention at the same time.

You value interdisciplinary collaboration and understand the importance of building solid relationships and interactions between stakeholders in large projects.

We imagine that you have

  • A technical education in mechanical engineering
  • 5-10 years of experience in the railway industry, preferably from a manufacturer of rolling stock
  • Knowledge of applicable standards and best practices for rolling stock
  • Practical experience with one or more of the following systems: Carbody, Bogie, Doors, HVAC, Brake, Traction, Air Supply
  • Fluent written and spoken English skills, ideally with technical rail knowledge, and a willingness to eventually communicate in Danish.
What can DSB offer you?
  • Free transportation with DSB
  • Flexible working hours and the option to work from home a few days a week
  • Access to DSB's gym and PureGym
  • Pension plan and health insurance
  • Subsidized lunch scheme and the opportunity to buy food to take home
